Hello my English reading Bloggers!
It's has been a busy week! But TGIF!

About 2 days ago I took a red-eye flight to New York (special thanks to Yoshida-shachou for letting me go.) to meet with prospect rep's and costumers. Tough trip but all worth it in the end.
This is going to be a Slide-Show of pictures of our trip and I hope you enjoy the pictures!

We landed about 8:30 a.m EST and went straight to our meeting.
We first met with Pat, wonderful lady that works with ETCetera ACCessories.
Her building number is 15w and she is on the 6th floor!
Thats Pat on the right talking with Nicki on the left. We just got done with the meeting and she took us to Macy's to show us around the Handbag section.

After checking out Macy's together, we found this charm that we thought would be great to put on Carrot Company's bag...maybe a future charm for their bags? What do you think?
Next we had a nice walk, I would say about 12 miles to a costumers store to see how their store looks. It looked small from the outside..but its was HUGE! 2 stories full! I wasn't allowed to take photos inside, but I sneaked one shot in. Sorry if its blurry but it was the best I can do.

After we visited a couple of stores and finished researching, I decided before I left home I wanted to pay tribute to the lost ones. The picture is construction of the New twin towers and whats cool about these street signs is that it had the old picture of the twin towers right beside the name.

THE SHIPMENT CAME!

It has been one heck of a week!
Bombarded by UPS, we got 17 boxes full of Carrot Company bags shipped to us!
We could have made forts out of them!

Look how happy Ryoko looks opening up the boxes!
Big smiles like children opening up their gifts on Christmas day!

But it wasn't all smiles when we had to unload all the bags out of the box and sort them! (My Back Hurts!)

But we managed and got the bags in the boxes with their order forms ready to ship!

Its a holiday week here in Japan and its called Obon. Obon is one of Japanese most important traditions. People believe that their ancestors spirits come back to their homes to be reunited with their family during this traditional holiday. Many families return to their hometowns and have family gatherings so they can all come together and pray for the spirits.

One of our bags (VIF style #VB-60082/NV) was featured on a very famous drama-comedy show in Japan called Hotarunohikari2 on NihonTV. Heres some pictures from the show!

The rainy season is finally over! It’s Summer Time!!!
But it’s hot! The suns shining and the temperature keep rising, but I’m still living and loving it!

During Summer, there are lots of festivals, fire works, and concerts outside.

One of the most biggest and popular festivals in Kansai is held in Kyoto. The festival is called “Gion Masturi.” Kyoto is famous for their traditional temples, tea ceremony, geisha, maiko, etc.

On the day of the festival most Japanese people wear “Yukata” a Japanese garment, which is a casual summer kimono usually made of cotton.

Since it is difficult to put on and usually need someone’s help, we only put it on for special occasions.

If you ever have the chance to visit Japan, I recommend during the summer time. You will really enjoy it here!

I want to GUAM!

HOw's going on?

Last month I went to Guam as an incentive vacation provided by the company!

Our company has 2 offices, Osaka and Tokyo. If we don`t have these business trips or outings, it`s very rare chance to meet the other staff members.

Fortunately, our company sets up these outings every half year and an incentive outings every full year. That`s why this time we had at Guam was very precious for all our staff members!

And since we are establishing an office in California, in the near future, they will come with us!

We arrived at 4:00 a.m. in Guam and was tired! Could not wait to get to the hotel and sleep for a bit before starting my mini-vacation.
That night we all had dinner together while viewing a beautiful sunset that dropped into the sea.

The next day we had a game of dodge ball on the beach. It was really hot and humid but we were all excited and having so much fun! And the ocean was so clear and beautiful. You can see your feet in the water!

Eventually it was time for the soccer game to come on. World Cup action..Japan vs Netherlands!!
We all gathered and watched the game together. It was tooo exciting! I couldn't hold myself together.
Unfortunately, scoring a goal against Netherlands was hard for Japan and we lost! Sad but was a good game.

Guam is near Japan, about a 3 hour flight. It`s a great place for Japanese people to get away, relax, and go shopping!

We stayed in Guam for three days and two nights. My flight to go back home was at 4:00 a.m. The exact same time we arrived in Guam^^

It was really fun!!!

How are you?

I promised in the last blog that I will tell you about Guangzhou area. Here we go!

Guangzhou is near Hong Kong, just south of China.
It was very hot and humid..very!
The hotness was overwhelming! It felt like I was walking in a big sauna!
Toooo Hoooooot!

Check out this picture below! This shows that even people that are living here can`t take the heat!

Guangzhou is the third largest city in China and the capital of Guangdong Province and key transportation hub and trading port which is located on the Pearl River which leads to the South China Sea. The 2000 census said that Guangzhou is the most populous city in the province and the third most populous metropolitan area in China.

When I was walking around, everywhere was packed with people. China has allot of people already, but to be walking in the most populated province..you can imagine how many people there is.

I had the chance to see the Guangzhou International Finance Center. It was amazing and very very tall! The highest skyscraper in Guangzhou!

I also got the chance to see the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees. Even though it has been rebuilt, it looks beautiful!

Then Pearl River, the third largest river in China and the largest in Guangzhou. Its called Pearl River because it contains a stone island that resembles a huge pearl and it is always polished by the constantly-flowing water of the river. Beautiful!

It was my first time to visit China and I had a great experience. Doing business with someone from a different culture shows how much people really need to expand their horizon. There is a big world out there and this visit really widen my view about allot of things in life!

Finally my motivation for making the best items has been heightened by 110%!!!!

I went to CHINA!

I went to Qingdao and Guangzhou in China from July 2 to the 10th.

I`m sure your probably wondering "where is that?"
It`s not a place for sightseeing, but a place where most of our items are made.
In those 2 cities, there are lots of factories.

Here is some background of the 2 cities to get you more familiarized with them.

First I will introduce Qingdao.
In this city there are tall buildings standing side by side, but just south of the city is the beach.
Since the beach is right by the city, Qingdao is under heavy development.
Soon enough there will be beautiful resorts and resort villa`s to attract more tourists!

If you drive out of the city and into the suburbs, thats where you will find our factories.
Along the way to the factories, I got to see chicken, pigs, caw, etc.
I was amazed to see a herd of goats crossing 4 lanes of the highway!
Thats something you don`t often see.

Qingdao is famous for their beer. Its called Qingdao beer.

The taste is smooth and good! I often drink it in Japan. I love it!
But if you order Qingdao beer in China, its lukewarm!
So lukewarm, not nice and cold, and its summer....you guest it! Not a good combination!
Usually in Japan, when we go to a restaurant they serve us cold water or tea.
However in China, hot drinks must be served. The reason for this is it`s their costume to serve hot beverages because cold beverages is bad for your health.
So when you go visit China, make sure you tell them exactly what you want, because you might end up getting something Hot when you want it Cold!

Its great to learn and experience other cultures!

I hope this helps you imagine what China is like and maybe change your image about China.
I have been ruled by stereotypes about China, but this experience changed my whole prospective.
I thought that it would be less-developed, but in actuality they are quite updated.
Everyone here has cellphones and their infrastructures and apartments are really nice looking.
They have modernized allot!

Next time I will introduce and give some insight about Guangzhou!

I went to NARA!!!!

Hi Guys! How`s it going??

Last week I went to NARA, one of Japans historical spots.
Thousands of years ago, NARA was the capital of Japan.
And now it`s a Major sightseeing area.
It takes about 1.5 hours from our Osaka office to get there!

When I went to go visit, the weather was perfect! The sun was shining and the climate was just right!
One of NARA`s specialty is their Japanese deer. They are everywhere and their so cute!
I could`t stop taking pictures of them! My shutter was going off!!!

But every time I would take photos, my shoulder bag kept falling off and it bugged!
Then I just realized...dang, I should have visited NARA with a Yuck-Sack(German) aka Backpack!

Our Yuck-Sack aka Backpack is a great bag made of synthetic leather and cotton.
The bag has a natural feel and in Japan it is part of the recent trend. Everyone loves it!

Whats neat about this is your capable of storing many things and be able to use your hands freely!
So on your next trip, make sure you go out with the Yuck-Sack aka Backpack!

After all the photos, I went to Kasuga Grand Shrine. This shrine is known world wide!
It is part of Japanese culture to go through this ceremony where you pray to the shrine, give money, receive paper fortune, read it, soak it in, then hang it on a tree.
I did this and my fortune said "Daikichi" which means Excellent Luck!!

This past week we held our show for our 2010 Fall and Winter line at our main Office in Osaka.

Another great turnout for our show and the costumers gave us great feed back!

Now we can understand whats really a hot item in Osaka and Tokyo. From then on we can narrow down which bags we can start production with.Also the great feed back allows us to come up with great ideas for our next items.

Hi guys! My names Matthew Vandenworm and I`m new here at Carrot Company! On behalf of the US Branch, I would like to thank Shachou (Boss) Yoshida-san for giving me this opportunity of a life time to learn the business out here in Osaka, Japan.

Carrot Company has opened up their arms and embraced me with their warm hearts. Probably the nicest employees and people in general I have ever worked with. Great personalities and GREAT work ethics! I will be learning allot for 3 months and will bring back every good thing that they will teach me!

Learning the ways of the Samurai! But in handbags!

I will continue to work hard and make this a Global company starting with the U.S.! As they say, Ganbarimasu! Which means I will do my best!

Our show @ TOKYO and New Staff coming!

Hi Guys!

This past week we held our show for our 2010 Fall and Winter line at our Tokyo office.

The turnout was alot better then I expected.
We got alot of interest and alot of ideas for our next line!

Next week we are having the same show but at our Osaka office!
I hope thats as successful as our Tokyo show!

Some other great news, from this past monday a new staff member joined us in our Osaka head office.
He's from LA and is our only US staff member.
He is half Japanese, quarter Dutch, and a quarter Indonesian.
We are able to communicate in both Japanese and in English.

He will be with us until August in Japan, then after he will take his experience here and work in the US.

I hope he enjoys his stay here and can fully experience Japan!
Next week he will write and update the blog.
I`m sure he will share his experience and his life here in Japan. Until then!

Hello

It’s officially Spring but it still feels like winter here in Japan.
This year’s climate has been extremely strange!!!
But since the unique climate changes, we still get to see the cherry blossoms bloom and pro-long our “cherry blossom viewing party.”

In Japan, the school and business year starts in April.
During this time, many people buy new items that match the new season to freshen up their look; and of course including bags.
I really hope our bags will be part of their new get-up!

Today I learned something new!

Here’s one of our poplar bags
(NO:LJ-20051(M),LJ-20052(S))

The bag’s closure in the picture is called “Gama-Guchi.”
Gama means frog and Guchi means its lips.
So the “Gama-Guchi” saying means “frog’s lips”.
That does not sound appealing at all!

But just recently I found out that “Gama-Guchi” in English is “Kiss Lock!”
Now this I can find very appealing!
I really love the name, just sound so sweet!♪

It’s very interesting how people in different countries see the same thing but give off a different meaning or point of view. This is a prime example!

Last week, the showroom at our Osaka head office underwent some new changes! Compared to our previous layout, we now have used the space more efficiently and added colored carpets to accentuate the bags.

We’ve added a bar and chain display that allows our handbags to hang from the ceiling and pleasant color coded carpets that represent our different concepts of each line.

“Legato Largo” represents what we like to call a “new basic” look which expresses our goal of a modern vintage fashion trend.

“Anello” is our unisex brand that focuses on the colorful trendy Japanese Pop culture.

We also added a section to our showroom that features a house like décor with shelf’s and plants.

Legato Largo in now featured in the Daimaru Department Store!

Hello!

Right now it is currently Spring in Japan,
but yesterday we had snow, which very strange!
It’s very rare but beautiful to see cherry blossom and
snow coexist at the same time.
I’ve never seen it before and I should have took a picture!

As of March 31 “Legato Largo” is now being sold at Shinsaibashi Daimaru!

This is a huge achievement given that the Daimaru Department Store is one of the largest department stores in Japan comparable to the likes of Nordstrom in the U.S.

Hello!

It's getting warm little by little.

The plum tree is full-bloomed now in Japan♪

It's really beautiful and we feel that Spring is finally coming.

Today, I 'll introduce my colleague's heartwarming story and

a new color of U-70173, our most popular item！

U-70173

The other day, my colleague's friend came to his house with

his cute 3-years-old daughter and held a small party.

My colleague was thinking about her present, and he remembered

that they recently started taking a walk together.

He gave one of our popular item, AU-20511 , especially for kids!

Then, she suddenly became frisk even though she was quiet so far,

which made him so happy too.

Children are so pretty♪♪

Unfortunately, he gave her the gift right before the party ended.

He thought that he should have done it at the beginning of the party.

However, he hopes they enjoy a walk with the bag.

AU-20511 is the KID'S SIZE of U-70173.

We have only this desing for kids, but there are 24 color variations for regular size.

New color, "LIGHT PINK" like cherry blossom, is coming out this Spring.

Hello!

Spring collection is coming out to the shop.

Trend of this year is girly coordination with denim material,

flower print fabric, and fringe.

Our flower printed items are becoming a big hit.

This item is made of cotton fabric with pale and gentle rose prints.

Mat synthetic leather with the vintage looking.

We have 5 colors; Light Beige, Mint, Black, Brown and Pink!

It goes well with off-white dress, blown short-booth.

Our factory isn's catching up in producing the items,

but it will be coming soon:)

Hi Everyone!

It's still cold in JAPAN.

On the other hand, pollen is flying in the sky.The climate here is so strange.

Lots of Japanese are suffering from hay fever during this season and

I'm one of them....

Is everyone ok there?

My boss took a beautiful picture in Las Vegas:-D

This is the famous fountain show at Bellagio.

We could see the show on the way to our hotel from Convention Center.

It was so beautiful and fantastic, made us so happy even though we were tired.

After all, I must feel that the U.S.A is large.

We were so excited in front of TV.

MAGIC SHOW in Feb. 2010

Hi everyone!

We had our first U.S. exhibition at the Magic Show in Las Vegas during Feb. 16-18, 2010.

Even though it was our first time to exhibit at MAGIC, we met lots of nice people and madenew customers.

We were first wondering if we would have any orders in our booth but in a short time our concerns went away. We received plenty of orders and inquiries more thanwe had expected.

The MAGIC Show attracts customers from all over the world; we had the opportunity to meetbuyers from Canada, Mexico, Columbia, Costa Rica besides American buyers that attended the show annually.

After exhibiting in the U.S. for the first time, I felt American has a lot of possibilities for ourcompany to expand.

We decided to stick with our marketing plans for the U.S. and attend the next MAGIC Show in Las Vegas this coming August!

Hi, this is Saki, in charge of this blog.

It's too chill in Japan today, almost freezing!

I'm in Osaka, usually a warm area in Japan.

BUT BUT BUT !

This winter is unsually cold.....

I miss spring.

We run a booth last month at IFF(international fashion fair) in TOKYO.

IFF is the biggest fashion apparel trade show in Japan!

It was amaizing and exciteing.!
